LaSalle College Vancouver Launches Innovative High School

July 11, 2018

Vancouver, BC LaSalle College Vancouver is launching a new high school with accelerated programming, where students learn from educators who are experts in thriving international industries, including graphic design, film and gaming design.

LaSalle College Vancouver High School will open its doors this October to Grade 10 and 11 students from Vancouver and around the world. The school meets a critical need for those who want a focus on creative-arts electives, small class sizes and advanced teaching methods in LaSalle College Vancouver’s world-class learning facility.

But what really sets LaSalle College Vancouver High School apart is that students can take elective courses taught by industry professionals – enabling them to acquire practical career skills while earning their B.C. Dogwood Diploma.

“We are delighted to provide a boutique high school experience for students interested in the creative arts. We will be able to give our students dual-credit opportunities in culinary, design and media arts while completing the core elements of the BC high school curriculum,” said Dr. Jason Dewling, LaSalle College Vancouver president.

Expert instructors with a deep understanding of various industries will teach elective courses, meaning an established chef teaches cooking classes, or a design class led by a professional graphic designer. The school's association with its well-established parent college allows students access to a state-of-the-art campus, conveniently located near the SkyTrain line. Additionally, the school's quarter-system calendar enables students to fast-track their learning and swiftly move onto college or university.

“Our model will also allow for an accelerated approach to high school completion. With us, a student can finish faster and get a head start on their college curriculum while in high school,” said Dr. Dewling. “Our campus of specialized facilities will provide a world-class experience for these students.”

Every aspect of programming at LaSalle College Vancouver High School focusses on developing well-rounded global learners who can adapt, evolve and thrive on the world stage. Along with innovative programming, the school’s dedicated team of teachers deliver an enriched learning experience tailored to the individual needs of each student.
